WAS staff members have published refereed journal articles in the Forest Products Journal, Wood and Fiber Science, Journal of Structural Engineering, Transactions of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers, Journal of Materials Education, Wood Science and Technology, and Wood Design Focus. We have been pioneers in the development of full-size structural lumber testing procedures, design properties, and statistical distribution and reliability simulations. This record of professional activity and research, combined with a wealth of practical consulting experience, is brought to every project.

Our office and laboratory is located in the heart of New York's picturesque and historic Hudson Valley. We maintain in-house capability for both physical and mechanical testing of wood and non-wood materials. This includes micro-photography, physical property evaluations, and non-destructive and destructive mechanical property evaluations. Our state of the art computer and printing facilities provide us with the capability for sophisticated report preparation, graphics, engineering calculations, and statistical analysis. In addition, we maintain a voluminous and comprehensive in-house library. Our wood science and engineering literature ranges from the classic papers of the early 1900's, to the latest refereed journals and popular trade magazines.
